How Holidays Affect Your Garbage Pickup
Goodwin Sanitation observes several holidays throughout the year. On these holidays, our office is closed and there is no garbage collection. When a holiday falls on your regular pickup day, your service will typically be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week.
For example, if your regular pickup day is Tuesday and Monday is a holiday, your garbage will be collected on Wednesday that week. If your regular pickup day is Friday and a holiday falls earlier in the week, your garbage will be collected on Saturday.
Please note that our schedule may be adjusted around major holidays. We will make every effort to communicate any changes in advance.
This schedule is subject to change. Weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances may cause additional delays. We will make every effort to communicate any changes through our website and direct customer communication.
If you have any questions about how a holiday affects your pickup schedule, please call our office during business hours.
During the holiday season, you may have extra packaging materials. Break down cardboard boxes to save space in your garbage can. Consider recycling clean cardboard, paper, and certain plastics at local recycling centers.
After the holidays, we can collect your Christmas tree with your regular garbage pickup. Please remove all decorations, lights, and stands. Cut larger trees into sections no longer than 4 feet to ensure they can be collected.
If you know you'll have extra garbage around a holiday, consider spreading it out over multiple pickup days rather than putting it all out at once. This helps ensure we can collect everything efficiently.
Holiday Schedule Questions
If your regular pickup day falls on a holiday that we observe, your garbage will be collected the following day. All subsequent pickups that week will also be delayed by one day.
We will post any changes to our holiday schedule on our website. For significant changes, we may also send out notifications to our customers. If you're ever unsure, please call our office during business hours for the most up-to-date information.
Severe weather can sometimes cause additional delays beyond our holiday schedule. Safety is our top priority, so if weather conditions make collection unsafe, we may need to postpone service further. We will communicate any weather-related delays as soon as possible.
Just be sure to have your garbage out by 6:00 AM on your adjusted pickup day. During holiday weeks, our routes may run at different times than usual, so having your garbage out early ensures we won't miss you.
Our team is ready to help with any questions about your garbage service.
